Next Saturday, June 13 would have been the 4th annual Ride for Ray Gran Fondo to raise money for ALS

research through the MDA. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and current health and safety guidelines, we had to cancel the event. We were expecting our biggest ride ever with about 200 cyclists riding for ALS.
Since we can't all safely get together and ride, we decided to come up with the idea for the Gran Solo! What's a Gran Solo? Well, it's just like it sounds. You ride solo. đ We're going to use the same routes as last year for both the 100k and 200k rides. These routes can be downloaded here. If you can't make it to the area to ride these routes, you can still join the Strava R4R solo club and log your miles in honor of Ray Spooner and show your support for ALS. In addition, you can always make a donation at https://www.rideforray.com/donate
Here's what you need to do to participate.
Join the Ride for Ray Gran Solo club on Strava (this is how we will know who rode and what their time is)
Ride one or both of the routes before July 13th.
Post your Strava link in the forum here on our website.
Be sure to bring plenty of water and food. Remember, it's SOLO, that means no aid stations or SAG support.
You can ride with others if you feel safe doing so, However, we recommend following safety guidelines.
Plan your ride ahead of time and know the locations for water refills. There is a Casey's in Monticello and one in De Land. Be sure to bring a mask with you if you plan on going into a store. I recommend putting it in a ziplock baggy to keep it sweat free and clean!
You can park at the Savoy rec Center 402 Graham Dr, Savoy, IL 61874. Please use the spaces towards the back of the parking lot, and don't leave any trash behind.
Understand that this is not an official ride and that you are solely responsible for yourself, and the Ride for Ray and the Midwest Cycling Club is not liable. Please let someone know where you are riding and be safe!
